Commissioner and Chorley MP see policing in action during town centre patrol

Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw, Chorley MP Sir Lindsay Hoyle and Chorley Council leader Alistair Bradley, joined local officers on patrol in Chorley Town Centre.

During the visit, the Commissioner and the MP walked on the town centre beat, where they discussed anti-social behaviour over the summer months.

They visited Chorley Bus Station and the Inspire Youth Zone alongside local businesses in the town centre area.

The walkabout also highlighted the local efforts being made to tackle prolific shop-lifters as part of Operation Vulture, and the positive impact that a visible police presence has in preventing crime.

Sir Lindsay also thanked and praised local officers for their commitment to the role and their hard work to keep people safe.

Following the visit, Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said:

“It was great to get out and about on the beat in Chorley with officers and Sir Lindsay, discussing the challenges being faced by the neighbourhood team locally and the proactive work happening to keep people safe.

“Once again it was clear how passionate and knowledgeable our local policing teams are, and their enthusiasm to help the public and make a positive difference to those who live work and visit the Chorley area.

“As Police and Crime Commissioner, I remain committed to working closely with the Chief Constable to ensure town centres like Chorley continue to receive the level of policing needed to continue to drive down crime. This includes tackling anti-social behaviour through Operation Centurion and addressing shoplifting and retail crime through Operation Vulture.”
